MACA

Unearthing nuggets of resilience, innovation and giving back.

Can Do is a mantra that has captured the spirit of MACA since its conception from a chat between mates at a party in 2002. It was clear to us there was no better title for a publication documenting the mining contractor’s first 20 years.

The book follows the company from humble beginnings to its current status as a leader in the industry with more than 3,500 employees. Among the memorable moments from these two decades are recollections of challenging jobs, overseas ventures, new premises and diversifying acquisitions.

The tapestry of MACA is also made up of anecdotes with ‘legend status’, its commitment to philanthropic initiatives and strong guiding core values. These stories are paired with a broad photographic collection and presented in a vibrant visual expression of the company.

Outcome.

This book was a unique commission – not only was MACA celebrating its 20th anniversary, but the company had just attracted a ‘too-good-to-refuse’ offer to be purchased by major industry player, Thiess. So, in essence, the project became an opportunity for Geoff Baker and his co-founders to reflect on what they had created over two decades and cement MACA’s foundational spirit, community values and culture. Can Do captures this resilient personality of the company, as it moves into an exciting next chapter.”
